Roving Letterpress Workshops

Interested in having a letterpress workshop in your living room? Chantal will spend an afternoon in your hometown with her 2 tabletop letterpresses in tow and selections of excellent wood type and show you how to create your own piece of letterpress goodness.

Cost: $150 per participant, includes paper & ink

Participants: 3 at a time. Available for consecutive periods of time, if participant interest warrants it.

Location: limited to Ontario only. Chantal is based in Sudbury, ON and can only travel 4 hours in any direction. She is willing to travel further if participant interest warrants it, but participants may be subject to paying her travel expenses.

One Day Workshops at Papillon Press Studio

**Day-long workshops are scheduled according to participant interest. Please let us know if you are interested in participating in a workshop, and we will add your name to a list. Once we have enough participants, we will schedule a date convenient to all participants. **

Papillon Press is offering an exciting opportunity for three participants to learn the age-old craft of letterpress printing.

Our Chandler and Price New Style letterpress inked up in purple

In this day-long introductory workshop, you will be introduced to our vintage Chandler Price & Co. New Style press, learn the basics of setting lead type in the chase, mounting the chase on the press, inking and printing one colour. We will be printing personalized note cards, and we have over 100 type styles and sizes to choose from, as well as boxfuls of ornaments and etched graphics.

You will also learn what real “em” and “en” quads are, learn the basic California job case and what all those strange typography terms really mean!

We can only take on three participants to ensure everyone has enough time with the press, so sign up soon!

What you will print: one-colour personalized note cards (if you have a specialized project, please contact us well in advance so we can accommodate)
